Waiting Well Advent Series

Join us for Waiting Well, Ascension’s new Advent program featuring Fr. Mike Schmitz! We’ll be journeying together as a parish through Waiting Well every Tuesday evening of Advent at 7:00 PM in the Upper Room.

How It Works:
  • Daily: Registered participants will receive a copy of Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Waiting Well prayer journal. You will pray with your Waiting Well prayer journal every day throughout Advent.
  • Weekly: On Tuesday evenings of Advent, you will gather for a short reflection from a GSCC staff member, followed by small group discussion on the reflection and your week’s prayer insights from the prayer journal.
  • This rhythm (daily prayer + weekly reflection + small group) continues each week of Advent.

Waiting Well Meeting Dates:
  • Meeting 1: Tuesday, December 2 @ 7pm-8:30pm in the Upper Room
  • Meeting 2: Tuesday, December 9 @ 7pm-8:30pm in the Upper Room
  • Meeting 3: Tuesday, December 16 @ 7pm-8:30pm in the Upper Room
  • Meeting 4: Tuesday, December 23 @ 7pm-8:30pm in the Upper Room (subject to change depending on participant's holiday availability - will poll group)

FAQ:
  • When will I receive my prayer journal?
    • You’ll receive your journal at the first session on December 2.
    • If you’d like to start using it early (Advent begins November 30), you may pick it up at the parish office November 25 or 26 during regular, posted office hours.
    • If you can’t attend the first session or pick up early, contact Parker Berthelot (pberthelot@gscc.net) to arrange pickup after December 2.
  • Will I meet with the same small group each week?
    • Yes! You’ll be assigned a group at your first session and will typically meet with that same small group each week, allowing for deeper fellowship and sharing.
  • Where do small groups meet?
    • All small groups meet at the parish in the Upper Room on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM.
  • Can I do Waiting Well with my SCC?
    • Not this year—this program is only available in a format with newly assigned groups.
  • What if I need to miss a session?
    • We understand that life happens! However, since we only have 4 weeks and space is limited, if you already know you cannot make at least 3 of the 4 meetings, we recommend joining a different Advent offering to allow others to take your spot.

By filling out this form, you are officially registering to participate in Waiting Well and committing to attend most of the meetings on Tuesday evenings (at least 3 of 4).

After registering, your spot is confirmed. You'll receive a welcome email with more details no later than Monday, November 24. However, all you need to do next is show up on December 2!
